2v2 bridgewars mob bug

Hi there! I just wanted to talk about a bug/glitch I had today. I had logged into my first 2v2 bridgewars game (I had previously done some 1v1) and the first thing I noticed was that there were mobs spawning, specifically zombies, skeletons, creepers and witches, no other mobs. At first I figured this was just something about 2v2 BW loading, but when the game started the mobs were still there and they did damage. Whenever you killed one it said something along the lines of " You killed a (whatever mob you just killed) and earned (a certain amount depending on the mob killed) amount of xp. After a minute, a creeper blew up our bed, but when I got killed, I still respawned, so basically my team had infinite respawns. After a couple minutes like this, my team and the other one teamed up and tried to figure out everything. We just played around with different sorts of things and then in the chat it wrote that my teammate just got to level 2, from the xp. And then I started bridging in different directions to see how far it went, but when I started stair casing up from the side of our island, the blocks suddenly started disappearing, and so now I was apparently, accidentally bridging with ghost blocks. After about 3 seconds of that it kicked me off the server saying I wasn't allowed to fly . After getting back on the server I couldn't reconnect to the game. Sadly I don't remember user of the other players and I don't have any screenshots of it.

That's all, I just want to know if that's intentional or not and why that happened .
